Pearce: Healthy Economy Must be Fed's Priority

Statement

Today, U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement on the President's nomination of Janet Yellen as the next chair of the Federal Reserve:

"We can all agree during this difficult time that getting the economy growing again must be a top priority for the next chair of the Federal Reserve," said Pearce. "I congratulate Dr. Yellen on her nomination, and look forward to working with her through the Financial Services Committee and on behalf of the people of New Mexico. I would welcome Dr. Yellen to join me in New Mexico to visit firsthand with the people who the Fed's policies affect: hardworking middle-class families in places like Silver City, Carlsbad, and Las Cruces. New Mexicans cannot afford the Fed's policies of printing money and driving inflation. I encourage the Fed to seize this new opportunity to adopt sensible rules that put our economy on a path toward a healthy future."
